Sitiuation: The bots have invaded a key prison space station. They have sent
an elite group of commando bots to free their captive brethren.
You must go in and destroy the space station by destroying the rectors
before they can use it for resource replenishment.
Intell has reported that the bots have shut down key refueling centers.
Remember to also look for repair centers they can help repair your ship.
Rumor has it that some of the bots have escaped their cells!!!
Look out!
end of prelude
Ok folks here is my best work yet!!!
Now that I have a few levels under my belt,
I have gotten my creative juices flowing :)
Having enjoyed the Descent Registered levels thoroughly,
I decided to go all out in making my own levels very different from them.
After all, one can only enjoy the underground tunnels for so long :)
So I decided to make a set of levels that would represent a space station.
That's right folks a space station!!!! From what I can gather from my testing
I am 99% sure that I don't have any underground/rock texures in these levels
thus making more it believable :)
Right now I have 3 levels completed. I hope to add on a couple more before
I move on to another set.
When I made these levels I tried to keep deathmatch in mind (Although solo play
is still a blast!!!). Please check out all my levels they get better as
you go higher.
You should see a lot of fun situations happen with two players :)
Here is what I took in to account for deathmatch:
1:A fine balance between weapons and other resources (No Invulnerabilities!!)
2:Key placement of weaps (some are hidden!!)
2:Long corridors with niches so that one can dodge easier
3:All big weapons must be earned by killing bots =) or finding secret spots
IMPORTANT: I HIGHLY SUGGEST PLAYING ANARCHY WITH BOTS TO GET THE MOST FUN
OUT OF THESE LEVELS
Don't worry there are just enough bots to make the levels interesting.
I try to stay away from flooding the levels with bots.
Simply because I prefer a more challenging tactical situation than
an all out slugfest. I also used my favorite bots in these levels
They are the Bomb Bots I think they make d-match more fun!!
Some other neat features about these levels:
First off, I have a deep respect for the guys at Parallax who designed the
original levels so I have made every effort not to copy there Designs.
99% of my level design is totally original!!!!!
I only copied one tunnel for the exit since no one will see it anyway
One last note please pay attention to the placement of certain signs since
they may give you some clues (i.e. A warning sign just outside a room that
holds some bots or repair sign for a room full of shields).
Also I have taken great pains to tweaking the light sourcing values so as
to provide an erie effect ;) There is nothing like watching bots in corridors
dissapear into darkness. Although I know the registered levels had plenty of
light sourcing I felt IMHO that it wasn't being used to it's fullest effect.
Maybe it's just me I don't know. Well anyway enjoy and you can bet there will be
better levels to come as I get better at it :)
Thank you Parallax and Achim for making this possible!
The Descent/Devil combo is awesome!!!!
Lord Vader--I love this game!!!!!!!!
